“The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.”

Adoption
Adoption is a complex and lifelong journey of exploration. Therapy can provide a safe and non-judgemental space to examine the wide range of feelings that people have as members of the adoption community.
Our identity and sense of self is influenced, in large part, by our relationships with our families. This is particularly nuanced for families formed through adoption. I will work with you to find different ways of integrating your understanding, experiences, and the cultures of both your birth families as well as your adoptive families to arrive at an identity that feels true to who you are.
In addition to adoptees, I work with adoptive parents in supporting their child’s identity development and navigating their relationship with their first family and culture.

Immigration
Finding a community where one can show up as one’s authentic self and still feel a sense of belonging can be challenging. I specialize in working with immigrants and BIPOC-identified individuals who often feel isolated in social circles as well as the workplace. I help my patients think through and face the cultural dilemmas of feeling stuck between one’s home culture and the mainstream culture of the US.
Together, we will work on developing skills to help you communicate your needs with confidence and become more assertive in your decisions. I will help you find your authentic self and embrace who you are so that you may ultimately create more meaningful relationships. Learning and practicing these skills over time helps us to navigate the world around us and find communities where we can be our authentic selves and feel connected.
